The question is above.Which hair product is worse? The hair dryer? Or the straightener?
straightener i would think.Which hair product is worse? The hair dryer? Or the straightener?
They are both horrible, but in different ways. Most people do both and blame all of it in the straightener. Blow drying hair removes 90% of hair's moisture, leaving it dry, brittle, and prone to damage by blasting it with heat and high speed winds. The outside layer of the hair shaft is called the cuticle and is like shingles on a roof. You want this layer to lay flat down, but a blow dryer blows it open. This means that your hair's natural oils that keep it healthy are sucked out when you shampoo. This causes breakage more than anything short of chemicals. Straighteners rip at the cuticle and cause breakage.
But breakage means that the hair has snapped, it is not necessarily damaged. You can use a thermal styling spray when you use a flat iron, but that doesn't do anything when you blow dry. I never blow dry and I encourage my clients to avoid it as well, they always see a huge improvement in the condition of your hair. But the damage is also combined with using really harsh drugstore shampoos and conditioners. If you use salon quality shampoo and conditioner, and wash the conditioner out in cold water it will protect your hair.
There are preventative measures for straightening, but not for blow drying, So considering this blow drying has the potential to be much worse, it just depends on the other factors like chemicals, shampoo and conditioner, temperature of the flat iron, products that you use, etc.
Hey are both equally bad. The straightener had direct contact with your hair and causes all over damage and it typically has a very high heat setting. The hair dryer dries you're hair at an uneven rate and results in fried ends while the roots are still wet.
Tip: if you're debating which one to use I would suggest getting a product from the store that help protect your hair from heat. then start off by towel drying your hair focusing more on the roots and working your way down. Put the product of choce in hair. The blow dry your root and straighten your ends. You can also look into getting the wet to dry hair straightener by conair and use it on a lower heat setting and doing smaller sections of hair at a time and only running the straightener over you're hair a few times. Then allow your hair to cool off and run it over a few mire times if needed.
First off Amber Marie isn't a hair stylist. If she was she would not be copying and pasting stuff she finds from google. She does it all the time. Second I agree with binka. She taught me how to do my hair with both and the damage from my hair was caused because i didn't know how to properly use the tools or know what product to use for which tool. Don't use any product, shampoo, or conditioner that uses any type of Alcohol. Most cheap products use some form of it. If you know how to use the tools or what products to use then you won't damage your hair. Why do you think good stylist can use all those tools on your hair and not damage your hair or make it look dryed out and frizzy like Marie claimed that hair dryer to do.
Neither if you have the right products. I use both but my hair isn't damaged because I know how to use both and what products to use. Even my stylist says that my hair doesn't even look like I use styling tools on it. Thats because I don't have damage to my hair like most people do. Most people damage their hair with those tools because they don't know how to use them properly or what products are good. For example with the hair dryer you should only blow your hair in a downwards angle and use your fingers not a brush and use a thermal lotion for your hair. If you blow it all over the place or use a brush that will cause frizzieness and split ends.
the hair dryer. a straightener may give you better results and thus appear to be better for your hair, but it is much hotter and has direct contact with your hair.
the dryer on the other hand has a cool setting that is actually quite healthy for your hair. use it every time to seal the cuticle.
The Straightener Is The Worst Product Use ( The Modern One )
It Will Crimp Your Hair, Make it Puffy In Water , Not So Straight Edges, And Will Burn Your Ends/Hair....
I believe is both because the straightener has more heat than a blow dryer and you out it in your hair while the blow dryer makes hair frizzy and knotty.
Straighteners are usually hotter, and come closer to your hair, so Id say the straightener is worse. But some blow driers aren't that much better.
the straightener by far,
because that one settles on your hair longer than they dryer..
ann it gets way hotter too.
but you can buy products from the store to make it so it doesn't damage your hair.(:
straightner is worse for your hair
hair dryer gives it a more natural look
i say hair dry it then straighten the edges for a better look :D
ii beleive the hair dryer becuz for me it causes frizz and other but wit a flat iron jus get a heat protection spray or cream and staighten away LoLz
Straightener, it is much more concentrated. You shouldn't use either on a daily basis.
straighter has more straight contact with ur hair
blow dryer because it frizzes it and it wont go away
the straightener no doubt
